Eighteen Polly Farmer Follow the Dream students from Belmont City College, Kent Street Senior High School, and Bob Hawk College attended a 'trip of a lifetime' career and leadership camp in Melbourne late last year.
Students were selected based on their excellent school attendance and high tutoring hours, with the camp funded by program sponsor Bennco Group and the Foundation.
The jam-packed camp included visits to the Murrup Barak Aboriginal Centre at The University of Melbourne and RMIT University, participation in a "Shades of Deadly" workshop run by Lena from Clothing The Gaps, a guided tour of the MCG and Australian Sports Museum where Polly Farmer is honoured a visit to Melbourne Museum and the Bunjilaka Aboriginal Centre, participation in a Korin Gamadiji Grow and Emerge Leadership workshop led by Brady Cooper, a visit to the National Gallery Australia where they viewed students Bethany and Jae-Dean's grandfather's artworks!
There was also time to attend the John Cain Arena to watch a Basketball game, test student's fear of heights at the Melbourne Skydeck, view the beautiful exhibition "Connection" at The Lume, plus catch up with Kalgoorlie and Newman Polly Farmer Follow the Dream students who were also visiting Melbourne!
Many thanks to Belmont Follow the Dream program coordinator Lisa Bennett for her amazing effort in organising the camp, which in her words "will remain one of the biggest highlights in the student's educational journey!"
Belmont Polly Farmer Follow the Dream is proudly sponsored by Bennco Group and partnered with Public education in Western Australia.
